Pinterest: Nail or Fail - Backless Bra

Welcome to the very first Pinterest: Nail or Fail on my blog! For this little experiment, I will be using this image found on Pinterest:
The link that this image leads to actually has multiple broken links to the images, therefore I thought it would be a perfect thing to try. If you want to try the link for yourself, the (original) idea came from this blog:
Lets get started!
(This craft was also perfect to do because I had just gone out and bought a bra on clearance, and when I got home, I realized that the size was mislabeled and I am not even able to do it up!!)
Lets start with the bra:
Cut the bra at both points shown below, and repeat for the other side:

This is what you should be left with.
Next, take three sets of three pieces of material to make the braided backs.
(I used a cut up white tee, a cut up blue and white tee and a piece of chain)
Now, braid!
Sew the end of each braid so it doesn't unravel.
Here, I took some fabric glue (brand name)...
...and covered the support bar on the side of the bra.
I then took chip clips to hold each of the braids where I wanted them to be on the support beam. I then repeated this process on the other side when this dried (approx. 3h).
Finally, I put the bra on and voila! The perfect bra for those backless tops!

Some things that I would like to point out:

  • You must measure around your rib cage before you sew the braids off.
  • I used fabric glue, but the original instructions said to use velcro. I would recommend velcro on one side and fabric glue on the other.
  • After I wiggled around in the bra a little bit, one of the straps came loose. This was because I improperly measured, and there was not enough stretch to the fabric strand. (easy fix, remeasure!)
I would consider this Pinterest experiment a half nail, half fail, because although it worked, it did not hold up for long.

I hope you guys enjoyed this Pinterest: Nail or Fail experiment! If you would like me to continue these, and/or have a suggestion for next time, please leave it in the comments!
